Field Service Engineer / Allround Servicemonteur
Join our family. For our service department, we are looking for a Field Service Engineer / allround servicemonteur with a passion for technology. In this role, you will work on various mechanical installations on board ships, with an emphasis on hydraulic and mechanical systems.
This role is also interesting for technicians outside the maritime sector. If you work as a truck mechanic, auto mechanic, hydraulic mechanic, or in another technical service role, and you find it appealing to work on large, complex installations, we would love to get to know you.
What makes this role attractive is the variety. One day you work on a planned installation on a new ship, the next day you solve a malfunction on board a ship in the harbor. You are engaged in technology in practice: inspecting, repairing, adjusting, testing, and solving malfunctions.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be involved in:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing hydraulic, mechanical, and partly electrical installations on board ships;
- Performing inspections on steering machines and rudder installations, among others, in accordance with relevant guidelines;
- Independently solving malfunctions and performing repairs on site;
- Testing, adjusting, and tuning installations in the workshop and on board;
- Preparing work activities and collecting necessary parts;
- Drafting service and inspection reports after completing a task;
- Providing first-line support for malfunctions;
- Occasionally performing work in the workshop for service or production.
What makes this position interesting?
This role offers a lot of freedom, responsibility, and variety. You will work at different locations, on various installations, and no two weeks are the same. Additionally, you will have the space to carry out your work in a practical and independent manner.
Moreover, you can count on attractive extras:
- Standard working hours from 07:45 to 16:30, with flexibility where possible;
- An own service bus that, with sufficient experience, may also belong to you at home as a possibility;
- Occasional opportunity to work abroad if you enjoy it — this is a chance, not an obligation;
- 1 week per 6 weeks of breakdown service, on average not extremely busy;
- A standby fee of €200 per breakdown week;
- Overtime compensations of 140% and 170%;
- Much variety between planned activities and acute service tasks.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a mechanic or service engineer who enjoys working independently, is technically strong, and gets energy from varied work on location.
You recognize yourself in the following:
- You have a technical background, for example in mechanical engineering, vehicles, hydraulics, mechanics, or service;
- You have experience as a service mechanic, breakdown mechanic, auto mechanic, truck mechanic, hydraulic mechanic, or in a similar technical role;
- Experience in the maritime sector is a plus, but certainly not a must;
- You can independently analyze malfunctions and perform technical repairs;
- You are practically oriented and enjoy working at different locations;
- You communicate pleasantly and work carefully;
- You have a reasonable command of Dutch and preferably also English;
- You have an eye for safety and work according to applicable safety and environmental regulations;
- You are willing to participate in the breakdown service.
What do we offer?
