The Role

As an Engineer Plans & Arrangements at Damen Naval, you will be responsible for the smart and efficient design of accommodation and technical spaces (excluding auxiliary spaces). You will translate complex requirements into practical and maintainable arrangements that meet high standards for safety, ergonomics, and functionality.

Working closely with other disciplines, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will integrate technical information into cohesive and compliant designs. You will contribute throughout the engineering process from developing statutory plans and arrangements to creating detailed fabrication and mounting drawings ensuring compliance with all naval and class regulations.

Key Accountabilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up statutory plans and space arrangements based on ship specifications, general arrangements, and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Executing engineering activities in 2D and 3D CAD environments, such as Cadmatic and 3DExperience (CATIA), within agreed time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Developing fabrication and mounting drawings, integrating input from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Collaborating proactively with other disciplines to ensure designs meet all functional, ergonomic, and maintainability requirements.
  • Participating in technical discussions with stakeholders and proposing practical, well-founded solutions.
  • Ensuring full compliance with class, statutory, and naval regulations.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of processes, standards, and knowledge within the department.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Secondary vocational education (MBO-4+) related to outfitting discipline.
  • At least four years of experience in engineering outfitting systems.
  • Solid knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD/PLM tools, preferably 3DExperience (CATIA).
  • Sound understanding of class and statutory rules and regulations for commercial and naval vessels.
  • A proactive, results-driven attitude with a high standard of quality and teamwork.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
