Senior Chief Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineering Education Instructor to join our team and contribute to the success of our vocational training program. As an Engineering Education Instructor, you will play a vital role developing and delivering training programs tailored to meet company specific needs focusing on engineering skills, knowledge, and processes relevant to business resulting in targeted and effective training for employees, increased productivity, efficiency, improved job performance, confidence, and reduced skills gap within the workforce. The instructor's expertise and passion for the trade will inspire and equip students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive curriculum for trade-related courses, integrating theoretical concepts with hands-on practical training.
  • Entry Level Basic Building Operations (for entry-level MT new hires)
  • Fundamentals, Intermediate, and Advanced HVAC
  • Basic Electricity
  • Low- and High-Pressure Boilers
  • CFC Prep Course
  • DC and MD Licensing Prep Course
  • Schematic and Blueprint Analysis
  • NEC Code Class
  • Advanced Building Equipment (DOAS, VRF, Chilled Beams, ETC)

  • Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Instruct students in various trade disciplines, ensuring they grasp fundamental concepts and gain proficiency in relevant techniques.
  • Demonstrate safe practices and procedures within the trade, emphasizing the importance of workplace safety and adherence to industry standards.
  • Apply diverse instructional methods and resources, including multimedia and online presentations, virtual classes, demonstrations, simulations, and real-world projects to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students on their progress, assignments, and projects, fostering their continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and assess student performance, identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses, and implementing appropriate strategies to address individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to refine and enhance the curriculum, adapting it to the evolving demands of the trade industry.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements, trends, and technologies in the trade field, incorporating relevant updates into the curriculum.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and student engagement.
  • Provide guidance, industry insights, and networking opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievements using company software (currently Workday).
  • Assist in planning and coordinating trade-related events, recruitment activities, workshops, and exhibitions to showcase student work and promote the program.
  • Collaborate with the Cushman University committee on curriculum development, supply coordination, staffing support, and vendor management.
  • Able to participate in building tours and inspections and able to create associated reporting.
  • Able to conduct a Property Building Assessment and associated reporting.

Important education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Important experience:

  • 10+ years engineering experience with significant supervisory responsibility in a commercial property setting experience in the operation, installation and maintenance of building systems with in depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.

Additional eligibility qualifications:

  • Vocational/Technical training certificate
  • Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, i.e. Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses
  • Universal Technician for CFC's depending on market licensure requirements or any similar combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable practices/techniques, laws, project controls, and environmental regulations
  • Familiar with Energy Management System (EMS)/programming, fire alarm systems, and Building Management Systems
  • Proficiency in the preparation of staff schedules, after hour assignment scheduling and coordination, preventive maintenance schedules and the ability to assess and prioritize immediate needs
  • General knowledge of the property management financial reporting with primary focus on R&M expenses, Utility expenses and Capital expenses, as they pertain the department's allocated monthly and annual budget. Should possess the knowledge to clearly explain favorable and unfavorable variances the monthly and year to date R&M and Utility expenses
  • Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word

Work environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions.
