Senior Design Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our Christchurch, Dorset team! As a Senior Design Engineer for our Christchurch location, you will be working in the design engineering team, supporting production, resolving obsolescence and re-introduction of legacy sensor and solenoid products for commercial and military Aerospace applications.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of the aerospace industry and be competent in mechanical design with ideally some experience in valves/solenoids/sensors.

Your Challenge

  1. Generate mechanical designs schemes for Solenoid and Sensor products using Solidworks.
  2. Author/check/approve testing procedures and reports.
  3. Support operations with any manufacturing /quality issues making technical judgements to approve disposition of non-conformances, engineering change requests.
  4. Identify risks and lead mitigation activities in the form of analysis or testing.
  5. Generate and check/approve manufacturing drawings, requiring high proficiency with BS8888, GDT, tolerance analysis and best drawing practices.
  6. Lead small project teams as required.
  7. Project management
  8. Support investigation activities using 8D and other similar problem-solving tools.

What You Bring

  • Degree (or HND) educated within a relevant Engineering subject
  • Good amount of prior experience in design role in the Aerospace industry
  • NPI experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, soldering, welding and brazing
  • Must be familiar with BS8888
  • Solidworks or similar CAD package
  • UK citizenship
