Engine Field Service Technician - Level I

Job Title

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, diagnostic assessments, and minor repairs on engines and power generation equipment at customer sites.

Communicate effectively with customers to understand concerns, explain findings, and outline next steps, ensuring a positive service experience.

Utilize a range of mechanical and electronic tools to troubleshoot issues and execute service tasks with precision and safety.

Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including service worksheets, inspection reports, timesheets, and warranty submissions.

Support the team in maintaining a clean and well-stocked service vehicle to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Actively participate in training, mentoring, and upskilling opportunities to expand technical expertise and meet evolving business needs.

External Qualifications and Competencies

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

A vocational diploma or trade qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (or related field).

A valid and current driver's license to travel to various customer locations.

Basic hands-on experience working with engines, generators, or related equipment—workshop or field service experience desirable.

Willingness to learn and grow professionally through technical training and on-the-job mentorship.

Strong interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Commitment to safety protocols and demonstrated awareness of Health, Safety & Environmental standards.

Familiarity with diagnostic tools, schematics, and service documentation processes (preferred but not mandatory).

Additional licenses such as HR or forklift (highly regarded).
