AME Rebuild Centers Engineering & Quality Leader
We are looking for a talented AME Rebuild Centers Engineering & Quality Leader to join our team specializing in High Horse Power Engine Rebuilds for our Distribution Business Unit in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Strong quality governance expertise to ensure disciplined execution of ISO‑compliant systems, robust root‑cause analysis, and clear escalation ownership across the AME rebuild network.
- Deep technical leadership in rebuild engineering, with the ability to apply rebuild standards consistently, lead failure analysis and teardowns, and translate learning into systemic, network‑wide improvements.
- Proven capability to drive standardization and alignment across multiple rebuild centers, reducing variability while improving reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
- Commercial and engineering acumen to lead cost optimization initiatives, salvage expansion, and buy‑out governance that improve rebuild competitiveness without compromising quality or durability.
- Program and change leadership skills to establish, launch, and certify rebuild centers, ensuring all facilities meet engineering, quality, safety, and rebuild standards from day one.

- Ability to define, approve, and govern technical standards, rebuild BOMs, salvage criteria, and engineering changes across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical problem solving, including structured failure analysis, condition assessment, and validation of corrective actions.
- Proven project issue and risk management skills to systematically identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate risks and issues using structured tools and disciplined governance.
- Advanced problem‑solving expertise, with the ability to apply industry‑standard methodologies, mentor others, determine root and assignable causes, and implement robust, data‑driven solutions that prevent recurrence.
- Leads multi‑site, cross‑functional initiatives using stage‑gate thinking, milestones, and risk management to deliver compliant outcomes.
Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position
Education/ Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or experience equivalent is required.
- Significant level of relevant work experience required: Experience in Manufacturing, Engineering in the automotive industry or a similarly regulated industry.
- Demonstrated managerial or people ‑ leadership experience is preferred.
