Data Engineer Opportunity

From kindergarten to high school, from child welfare to elderly care, and from arrival to integration, health care and much more. The municipal sector delivers services throughout life, to all residents, regardless of where in the country they live. With us, technology is not just about systems and platforms, but about creating trust, simplification, and better welfare in practice.

Municipal and county municipalities digital solutions that connect and can talk to each other, in a secure, effective and sustainable way. Today, the picture is fragmented. Data is scattered in various specialist systems - in school, in kindergarten, in health, archives and administration. Municipalities have to spend unnecessary time and money moving data, and they miss the opportunity to use the knowledge across the board. At the same time, the expectations for the use of artificial intelligence are growing, but if we are to get value from AI, the data foundation must be in place first.

We are now establishing a completely new professional environment for data, and we are looking for data engineers who will be part of building the infrastructure. This is your opportunity to be part of a brand new initiative from an early stage, so that you can put your mark on how the technology and the environment should look!

We are looking for a data engineer who will ensure that data actually flows. What you build is secure, scalable, and of high quality. You create pipelines, develop platforms, and make it possible for analysts and data scientists to create insights and value. The role is technical and practical, but at the same time closely connected to the societal mission: to make everyday life easier for everyone working in the municipalities, and to make services better for residents.

Among other things, with us you will:

  • Build and operate pipelines with data and integrations from various sources
  • Design and manage databases, data warehouses or data lakes in the cloud
  • Clean, transform and quality assure data into reliable data sets
  • Optimize performance and scalability for large data volumes
  • Ensure data privacy, access controls and data documentation
  • Prepare data for analysts, data scientists and the business side

Is this you?

We are looking for someone who likes to build things that work, and who gets energy from seeing complex data streams become simple, stable, and useful. You work systematically, collaborate well, and have a solid technical understanding.

You must have:

  • Strong skills in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Scala, C# or Java)
  • Experience with databases (relational and/or NoSQL)
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and building data pipelines
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • General understanding within data modeling and data security

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop) or streaming technology (Kafka, Flink)
  • Knowledge of data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Synapse, BigQuery)
  • Experience with DevOps principles (CI/CD, Git, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of data governance, GDPR or metadata management
  • Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) or machine learning platforms

This can be KS Digital for you

With us, you will be part of a strong development environment with over 40 developers who already work with modern technology such as Java, Kotlin, Kubernetes, Openshift and microservice architecture. Now we are building further with specialized data expertise, and you will have a key role in shaping how the entire sector works with data in the future.

With us, you will get among other things:

  • A rare opportunity to be part of building a data platform that the entire municipal Norway can use
  • An inclusive working environment with high competence and great commitment
  • Flexible working hours, home office by agreement and subsidized canteen
  • Paid leave between Christmas and New Year, as well as the possibility to train during working hours
  • Very good pension and insurance arrangements
  • Office space in Oslo or Bergen, and some travel to conferences and between offices

We want to hear from you

KS Digital knows that diversity makes us better. Our users are different, and we need colleagues with different experiences and perspectives. Therefore, we encourage you to apply, even if you have an unconventional background or gaps in your CV.
