The Duty Engineer will be responsible for supervising and performing maintenance tasks, ensuring the hotel's engineering systems operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with IHG standards. This role is essential during the pre-opening phase for systems testing, commissioning, and operational readiness, as well as for sustaining excellence in the post-opening stage.
Oversee daily engineering and maintenance operations across the property.
Support pre-opening activities including equipment commissioning, asset inventory, and implementation of engineering SOPs.
Conduct regular inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure all work is completed efficiently.
Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and technical records.
Supervise and guide technicians, ensuring proper work quality and adherence to safety protocols.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors as required.
Ensure compliance with IHG engineering, safety, and environmental standards.
Troubleshoot system faults and implement corrective actions.
Assist in preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment longevity and minimal downtime.
Support energy-saving initiatives and monitor utility consumption.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
Minimum 3–5 years of hotel engineering experience, preferably with an international brand.
Strong technical knowledge of MEP, HVAC, and building automation systems.
Experience in pre-opening or commissioning projects is an advantage.
Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a small engineering team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills in English; Bangla proficiency preferred.
Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as operationally required.
