We are seeking a visionary and results-driven marketing and communications leader to join our team as Director of Marketing & Communications. The ideal candidate will work directly with the Director of Sales & Marketing and bring a demonstrated background in luxury hotel brand marketing, with deep expertise spanning public relations, digital marketing, social media, content strategy, brand storytelling, and integrated campaigns.
As Director of Marketing & Communications, your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that builds brand awareness, drives ancillary revenue, and positions Regent Santa Monica Beach as the preeminent luxury oceanfront destination in Southern California and beyond.
The successful candidate must possess a sophisticated understanding of the luxury hospitality consumer, a strong media and influencer network, and the creative instinct to translate the property's distinctive story across every channel and audience. You will oversee all aspects of the marketing function, from agency and vendor management to content production, PR, and performance analytics.

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, every day is different, but you'll mostly:
Public Relations & Communications
• Develop and execute an annual communications plan, including PR strategy, media outreach, and crisis communications, in alignment with the property's marketing and revenue goals
• Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media contacts, including travel, lifestyle, food & beverage, design, and luxury trade press
• Oversee the PR agency relationship, directing pitching strategy, story angles, media priorities, and performance expectations
• Serve as the hotel's primary spokesperson and manage all inbound media inquiries, interview requests, and press visits, ensuring responses within 24 hours
• Prepare and approve press releases, media kits, messaging frameworks, and editorial content for all targeted media channels
• Plan and host press trips, media FAMs, and journalist site visits that showcase the resort's distinct offerings and brand pillars
• Collaborate with IHG's regional and global PR offices on brand-aligned storytelling and cross-property media opportunities
Brand Marketing & Content Strategy
• Own the hotel's overall brand voice, creative direction, and visual identity standards across all consumer-facing channels
• Lead the development and production of high-quality marketing content, including photography, video, and written editorial, in partnership with creative agencies and in-house resources
• Direct the annual property marketing plan, outlining seasonal campaigns, promotional strategies, and key initiatives across all segments including leisure transient, luxury consortia, group, and F&B
• Develop compelling storytelling campaigns that communicate the resort's features, experiences, and competitive differentiators to target audiences
• Maintain the property's comprehensive media library, including photos, video assets, and creative files, and ensure regular updates for all internal and external uses
Digital Marketing, Social Media & eCommerce
• Oversee all digital marketing efforts including paid media, SEO/SEM, email marketing, OTA content, and the brand website, in coordination with IHG's eCommerce and digital teams
• Lead the hotel's social media strategy across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest), overseeing content planning, community management, and performance optimization
• Manage and grow an influencer and content creator program aligned with the resort's luxury positioning and brand values
• Analyze digital performance metrics and provide regular reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, leveraging data to optimize campaigns and improve ROI
• Manage the hotel's CRM marketing initiatives, driving personalized communication strategies to past guests and key prospect segments
Partnerships, Activations & Community Relations
• Identify, develop, and activate strategic brand partnerships with luxury lifestyle brands, cultural institutions, arts organizations, and community stakeholders that reinforce the resort's positioning
• Oversee hotel-sponsored events, activations, and programming that generate media coverage, social content, and guest engagement
• Represent the property at relevant industry events, trade shows, and marketing forums
• Play an active role in community and government relations, supporting the resort's reputation as a responsible and engaged member of the Santa Monica community
Budget, Agency & Team Management
• Manage the marketing and communications budget, tracking expenditures and providing regular reconciliation and ROI reporting
• Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team, establishing clear KPIs, fostering a high-performance culture, and supporting professional growth
• Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors including PR agency, creative agency, photography, digital, and production partners
• Monitor competitive hotel marketing activity and broader luxury lifestyle trends, delivering actionable insights to senior leadership
• Collaborate cross-functionally with F&B, Spa, Revenue Management, Sales, and Events teams to ensure marketing support for all property revenue streams
Requirements:
• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive marketing and communications experience within the luxury hotel, resort, or luxury lifestyle brand space, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Demonstrated track record of developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns that drive measurable brand awareness and revenue results
• Deep network of media, influencer, and agency contacts within the luxury lifestyle, travel, and hospitality space
• Strong expertise in public relations with hands-on experience managing PR agencies and executing earned media strategies at a flagship or flagship-equivalent property
• Proficiency across digital marketing disciplines including social media management, paid media, SEO/SEM, email marketing, and website content
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling brand narratives for diverse audiences and channels
• Experience managing marketing budgets, agency relationships, and creative production workflows
• Familiarity with tools such as Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and property CRM or email marketing platforms
• A refined aesthetic sensibility and intuitive understanding of the luxury consumer
• Collaborative, proactive, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, pre-opening or high-growth environment
What you can expect from us:
The annual pay range for this role is $140,000.00 to $170,000.00. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach. This position is eligible for bonus pay.
