Human Resources Specialist

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist with experience in the automotive industry to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for supporting a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, and health & safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of employment standards, excellent oral and written communication skills, be organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on setting.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective job postings.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly, skilled trades, and salaried and commissioned roles.
  • Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and extend job offers.
  • Participate in job fairs and other talent acquisition initiatives.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Facilitate comprehensive onboarding programs for new employees, including orientation sessions, policy review, and benefits enrollment.
  • Coordinate new hire documentation and ensure timely system setup and compliance.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, final pay, and equipment retrieval.
  • Track turnover trends and suggest retention strategies.

Health & Safety

  • Support compliance with health and safety regulations in accordance with Manitoba guidelines.
  • Assist with safety training programs, audits, incident investigations, and reporting.
  • Partner with the H&S committees and supervisors to ensure safe work practices and a culture of safety.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to workplace incidents and health compliance.

HR Operations & Employee Relations

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Help maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems.
  • Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures in compliance with employment laws and company standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in an automotive manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, and health & safety regulations
  • Familiarity with employment standards and labor laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
