Status: Full-Time; Exempt

Position Purpose:

Initial point of contact for complex clients on escalated service related issues. Foster long term relationships between Cross Benefit Solutions, our clients and their employees. Develop and maintain a positive relationship and rapport with each insurance carrier to satisfy our clients' needs and facilitate the processing of business. Build solid partnership with Producers and Benefit Specialists. Make a positive contribution to the overall success of the Cross employee benefits team.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Individual would manage a complex book of business comprised of clients who are located both locally and regionally and are comprised of various funding methods, advanced contract features and structure that requires a higher level of experience and technical expertise. Responsible for acting as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers and retaining clients through customer service which includes open and clear communication channels with clients, producers and internal partners. Ensure accurate and timely responses occur between all parties. Ability to lead client meetings regarding renewal and utilization results in the absence of the Producer. Identify problems, summarize and develop strategic solutions with the client by incorporating the company's culture, mission and future staffing needs into our recommended strategic solutions. Expected to attend client meetings on site at their location(s). On occasion overnight travel may be required. As needed, preparation of materials needed for client meetings including but not limited to agendas, reports, calendars, presentations etc. Expected to have regular client contact as established by the client service calendar and renewal timeline. Client contact will include all methods: electronic, telephonic and in person. Including documenting in agency management system. Educate, advise and aid clients on all Compliance topics including, but not limited to, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, MPFML, 5500s and Health Care Reform. Communicate due dates, timelines and expectation to clients and partners, both internally and externally. Marketing and Underwriting assistance for current and new groups. As well as, install new group insurance contracts for existing clients or new clients effectively utilizing resources to match client needs. Strong knowledge of both fully insured and self-funded contracts. Administer renewals including preparing appropriate contractual changes. Conduct on-site meetings to communicate to employees and/or administrator about their benefit plans. Develop employee memorandum drafts for client to communicate the following; annual renewal changes, enrollment procedures, miscellaneous benefit changes and/or clarifications. Provide resolution support and oversight of employee issues such as enrollment and billing issues. Develop and maintain excellent carrier relationships. Provide leadership to the team that promotes teamwork by sharing experiences, assisting others when help is needed and maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Ability to work on additional projects that supports the overall development and advancement of the Employee Benefits team. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

Attend and complete any training sessions or assignments as required. Adhere to client service standards of the department and agency. Perform other tasks on projects as needed/assigned. Complete tasks in Brokerage Builder, file maintenance.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • College degree preferred, however at a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent degree and at least five years of experience in employee benefit account management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Massachusetts agent's license in Health and Life.
  • Possess communication skills necessary to communicate with insurance companies, clients and prospects concerning employee benefit lines of coverage.
  • High level of patience and empathy while working under pressure.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred, basic working knowledge required. Knowledge of Power Point preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to compose clear and accurate routine and non-routine correspondence.
  • Proficient in Adobe
  • Ability to learn multiple new web applications
  • Proficient in managing projects
  • Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, responsive and self-motivated.
  • Working knowledge with the health insurance industry and New England carriers preferred.
  • Team player and task oriented.
  • Employee Benefits Agency experience
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.
