Position Overview
Step into a dynamic internship designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of CRH's major divisions. This immersive experience covers every facet of our Construction and Materials departments, including asphalt, aggregates, and ready mix. You'll discover how industry leaders innovate, collaborate, and deliver excellence, and you'll build the foundation for an impactful career.
Key Responsibilities
- Get hands-on at construction sites and production plants—learn the fundamentals of asphalt, aggregates, and ready mix operations.
- Master the art of estimating and planning plant production requirements, and explore the plant scheduling process to satisfy client and internal needs.
- Delve into the essentials of compliance, learning how our teams uphold federal and state regulations like MSHA and OSHA.
- Gain practical skills in equipment maintenance, shop operations, and scheduling.
- Learn to uphold rigorous standards in Quality Control and Quality Assurance across all product lines.
- Understand the specifications our materials must meet and help ensure top quality.
- Support our unwavering commitment to safety and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Experience the bidding and execution process for major construction projects, working alongside seasoned professionals.
- Join field operations for heavy construction and paving, witnessing teamwork and efficiency in action.
- Explore the financial side of our business—project profitability, material pricing, and accurate billing.
- Sharpen your skills in customer relations and accounts management.

Who We're Looking For

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- At least a high school diploma or GED.
Work Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Strict adherence to our safety policies and procedures.
- Team-oriented mindset—support colleagues and supervisors as needed.
- Valid driver's license meeting state standards (DL/CDL, Class A and/or B, with possible hazmat/tanker endorsements).
- Flexibility to travel and work away from home, including nights and weekends as necessary.
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with OSHA/MSHA standards.

Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to use hands and fingers for precise work; clear communication and active listening.
- Strong vision (corrected if necessary) for near, far, and peripheral tasks, with the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional climbing, crawling, kneeling, and bending.
- Capacity to climb ladders, work at heights, and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs unassisted.
- Preparedness to work in all weather conditions and adapt to changing environments.
- Exposure to moderate noise, and occasionally to fumes, chemicals, moving machinery, high places, and risk of electrical hazards.
