Senior Unix Engineer - Contractor

Copay is currently looking to hire a Senior Unix Engineer - Contractor within our Corporate Overhead division based outside the Atlanta area. This position falls under our shared services line of business. As a Senior Unix Engineer, you will be responsible for participating in a team that administers, maintains, and supports all UNIX Server hardware and Operating Systems including Linux, Solaris, Azure, and AWS EC2 instances. You will report directly to the NA VP of Infrastructure.

As a Senior Unix Engineer – Contractor, you will be expected to work in our Peachtree Corners office location. Copay will set you up for success by providing:

• Company-issued equipment
• Assigned workspace in a hybrid environment

The responsibilities of the role will include:

• Monitoring the environment for performance and stability to meet service level objectives.
• Maintaining system patching and security levels.
• Developing ansible playbooks and modules.
• Creating and deploying Ansible solutions for a distributed data center infrastructure environment.
• Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in our dev, test, and production environments.
• Rooting cause analysis on incidents related to UNIX systems, hardware, and OS/software.
• Maintaining the environment to satisfy security requirements set by business drivers, Information Security, and Compliance departments.
• Updating system and process documentation and user guides as needed diagrams and SOPs as needed.
• Participating in an on-call rotation to address production related issues.
• Possessing the ability to objectively handle escalation of reported incidents.

Qualifications & Skills:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or a related subject or 5+ years' experience in given field.
• Advanced scripting and automation skills with some of following: (Ansible Playbooks, Perl, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Shell).
• Linux/Unix administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills are a necessity.
• Hands on experience with networking technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, NFS and CIFS.
• Experience working in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Red Hat Satellite familiarity for patching and managing baselines.
• Virtualization technology such as VMware, Nutanix, Oracle/Solaris is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of Git/Gitlab and Ansible Tower.
• Working knowledge of DNS, Sendmail, SNMP, and Postfix configurations.
• Knowledge of PCI and SOC1/SOC2 mandates.
• Must be capable of coping with pressure situations, have good planning skills and work well with others in a team environment.
• A self-starter with good interpersonal skills who can work equally well with management, peers, or end-users. Able to lead a team on projects and be a liaison with Project Managers.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift daily to meet business objectives.
• AD Integration/LDAP configuration and troubleshooting across multiple Unix platforms.
• Familiar with ServiceNow ticket system, SolarWinds, Splunk, and Dynatrace monitoring tools.
