Our optical communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of fiber optics and cable, hardware and equipment to become a leading comprehensive provider of optical solutions, spanning the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groups: carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group mainly consists of fiber optics communication infrastructure products and solutions for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group mainly consists of fiber optics communication networks aimed at businesses, governments, and individuals for personal use.

Provides subject matter expertise in engineering that improves product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service) and/or advances the innovation process to enable the delivery of new products. Provides solutions for increased process selects, increased material utilization, decreased costs, and improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects. Is a leader in obtaining fundamental process understanding and meeting the lowest cost producer objectives.

Designs and analyses first generation / next generation products, processes and/or equipment in support of a new product / technology introduction. Maintains knowledge of the latest developments in their area of expertise in order to identify and document any intellectual property developed as part of a project.

Provides leadership in problem solving, and technical expertise, to ensure timely resolution of short-term process and equipment issues, and higher level troubleshooting.

Provides direction to other technicians / engineers, coaches junior engineers, and provides guidance to maintenance personnel.

Provides general engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge (understands theories and fundamentals), and capable of leading projects to get to root cause of issues, and put permanent solutions in place.

Provides disciplined project leadership across multiple stages of innovation for new product, process, cost reduction and capacity improvement initiatives.

Recommends and implements permanent solutions to long term performance issues, and improves existing and new technologies and processes.

Develops and leads some areas of the manufacturing and/or technical roadmap. Documents material, process and/or equipment to protect and contribute to Intellectual Property improvements.

Proficient in use of statistical data analysis and DOE in process problem solving and process/product improvement.

Identifies, justifies, and implements cost reduction, capacity enhancement, capital equipment and other improvement initiatives.

Introduces new products and technologies.

Meets all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.

Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.

Tracks the effectiveness of projects and implemented cost reductions, using up-time, cost, productivity, and other appropriate measures.

Is a leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in process control/discipline, SPC, SQC, OEE, Designed Experiments, and other Performance Excellence processes (Green and Black-belt skills).

Designs and/or specifies new equipment or modifies existing equipment to continuously improve process performance. Coordinates installation, debugging and initial operation of new equipment and systems.

Bachelor of Science or equivalent in technical field.

Yellow Belt Training.

Lean Fundamentals.

Track record of delivering results.

Broad manufacturing and engineering experiences.

Project leadership (scope to implementation).

Coaching and developing junior engineers/technicians.

Manufacturing Workshops (MPIW or equivalent).

Bachelor of Science (Engineering) or Masters of Science (Engineering or Applied Science).

Green Belt certification.

Black belt (6 Sigma or Innovation) training.

Project and/or manufacturing financial management knowledge.

Knowledge of Innovation Stage-gate processes.
