The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

Job Description of the position:

Maximize sale of company products to assigned accounts or territories in the area of semiconductor advanced packaging (Glass core etc,) by technical selling. In addition, seek and evaluate in new business areas by leveraging Corning products or new technology. Creates and develops contact with existing and potential customers. Analyzes existing and anticipated customer requirements and promotes consideration of company products to fill such requirements. Complete understanding and wide application of technical and commercial principles, theories, and concepts. General knowledge of affiliated disciplines and businesses within Corning Incorporated. Understands competitive environment. Substantial knowledge of one commercial discipline/function. Develops technical solutions to complex commercial problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Identifies competitive activity where Corning is at risk in performance, cost, quality or market access. Leverages industry knowledge to increase market position and/or solidify customer relations. Assigned work goals are attained without appreciable supervisory direction. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects to external customers. Interface with other functional area specialists. Local Requirements: Day to Day Responsibilities Sales Engineering activity for Japanese Semiconductor packaging customers/supply chain players (Toppan, DNP, Ibiden, Shinko, Micro Technology, NSC, Samsung Japan, TSMC Japan, others) Technical development activity for new business opportunities across Corning's divisions (CDT, AO,GG, CLS, AGS) Working with the supervisor to coordinate the activities at customers with emphasis on technical sales interactions Working through the Corning based Product Line Manager, Innovation, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing teams, lead and coordinate all technical exchanges between customers and the Corning locations including commercial, innovation / development, engineering and manufacturing facilities Provide technical assistance to Sales/Marketing Personnel, Customer Service, Research and Development Engineering Help plan and arrange (contacts, timing, topics, etc.) for key visits and accompany Corning technical and commercial persons on their visits to customers Define and coordinate special testing requirements of customers Negotiate/maintain/control product technical specifications Interface with customers, to resolve related problems and to coordinate corrective action and to build effective relationships to enable Corning to effectively implement new technologies and products Frequently visit customers to monitor product quality, create close working relationships and to acquire information, technical trends, needs, etc Program management and ownership of quality issue resolution and development programs relating to customers Management of technical data (drawing, specification To present Corning new products, technical capability to customer to meet customer's requirements Requirements Technical Sales experience (5 years or more) Computer skills (Microsoft 365) TOEIC 760 Preferred Semiconductor industry experience (especially back-end) LCD industry experience
