Product Development Engineer (M/F/D)
The Corning Pouyet production site, located in Pontchâteau for over 40 years, is part of the Corning Group's Optical Telecommunications division. It specializes in the design and manufacture of all accessories used to install fiber optics between communications centers and end users. For the Technology department located in Pontchâteau, France, we are looking for a Product Development Engineer (M/F/D).
Scope Of Position:
As part of a team of 10 people, the Product Development Engineer (M/F/D) contributes to research and development projects in the field of fiber optic telecommunications. He/she designs mechanical solutions to develop or improve an existing or new product, technical component, equipment, process, or system with a view to its industrialization. His/her activities encompass innovation and technological performance, in compliance with commercial, legal, environmental, safety, and budgetary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand customer needs and participate in drafting specifications.
- Participate in functional and technical analysis, taking into account technical constraints and associated risks.
- Research documentation, technology (processes, materials), regulations, and competition, and comply with legislation on competing patents.
- Carry out product development studies, such as concept research or detailed design of the chosen solution.
- Collaborate with all internal and external teams involved in the projects (testing laboratory, industrialization, assembly, sales, suppliers, customers, etc.).
- Take part in the prototype creation and analysis phase.
- Participate in the validation of the technical solution and its compliance with quality and regulatory criteria.
- Monitor tests in accordance with applicable standards and verify compliance with specifications and, if necessary, review and adapt designs.
- Write technical documentation and the "design history file" detailing the various stages (milestones, choices, tests, validations, etc.).
Skills Required For The Position:
- Technical knowledge of plastic product development (specific processes and methods) and innovative technologies and proven work experience in the respective field.
- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent technical vocational training.
- Knowledge of risk analysis methodologies (xFMEA, DFx, etc.).
- Understanding of industrial processes (plastics processing, injection molding, assembly, testing, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of problem-solving methods.
- Basic knowledge of regulations (quality and safety standards, industry benchmarks).
- Proficiency in digital tools (MS Office, CREO, NX).
- Proficiency in technical English, both spoken and written.
- Experience in project management in an industrial environment.
- Interest in new technologies and technical issues.
- Curiosity about the sector and a taste for innovation.
