Owns and controls project scope, schedule, budget, and quality. Understands customer needs and drives alignment and collaboration across all functions.
Establishes and maintains project scope and inter-dependencies with other projects, including efficient response to change and adequate communication of impacts thereof.
Oversees product and process technical design and identifies mismatches with market needs.
Understands technical design aspects and facilitates identification of failure modes and effects – asks probing questions to drive optimal design for product performance balanced with low cost and manufacturability.
Understands manufacturing principles and aligns solution to fulfill long term profitability.
Conducts risk analysis and develops risk mitigation and contingency plans to minimize effects to schedule and project delivery.
Establishes and maintains project schedule, ensuring sound logic and techniques are used for estimations and uncertainty mitigation.
Establishes project budget and maintains spending to budgetary levels. Seeks resources (people, machines, materials) proactively in order to meet milestones and holds resources accountable for delivery.
Facilitates rational decision-making processes with team and steering members.
Manages resource responsibilities and time allocation within projects to meet milestones.
Ensures all the documentation is complete and stored properly.
Resolves conflict within the project through leadership & negotiates resolution to external conflict.
Communicates the project status internally & externally to the organization & stakeholders in both formal and informal settings.
Supports best practices for project management and improves / refines innovation processes. Travel requirements: Able to travel as needed to visit customers or meet internal team members and evaluate products and processes, up to 25%.
BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar.
5+ years in a Product Development preferred.
MS or MBA preferred.
Project Management Professional certification desired.
