This position leads an engineering team to provide the processes, equipment, and tools so manufacturing can consistently achieve their throughput, uptime, and quality goals. The supervisory responsibilities include aligning the team's priorities to achieve plant goals, developing process engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching problem-solving techniques, and leveraging continuous improvement and data analysis methodologies to identify process and system improvement recommendations. This position includes technical process engineering responsibilities in optical fabrication. The technical engineering responsibilities include troubleshooting production issues, developing processes, optimizing processes, improving yields and integrating new products into manufacturing. This position works very closely with manufacturing, safety, quality, and supply chain. The supervisor reports directly to the Plant Engineering Manager.
• Provide direct supervision to department's engineering team.
• Utilize technical expertise to support production and perform process engineering work.
• Relentlessly guide engineering team to provide current information, equipment, and tools to support process control and process discipline efforts: ensure that the team maintains documentation, monitors and responds to process and production data, implements system fixes, drives to root cause, improves fabrication methods, and makes data-based decisions.
• Apply engineering principles to increase process knowledge and capability.
• Identify, prioritize and implement process improvements to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
• Responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and implementing engineering actions for manufacturing to meet production goals, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
• Develop engineers to achieve their technical and professional goals
• Champion using processes and quality systems to provide the most current process information, complete corrective actions, implement experiments, and ensure that equipment is safe.
• Work with management to set short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals and priorities. Facilitate and direct efforts to meet or exceed the goals.
• Leads team to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
• Minimum a Bachelors' degree in an engineering or science field. Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or Optical Engineering is preferred.
• Experience applying problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies: Performance Excellence, DMAIC, Lean, root cause analysis, data analysis, or others
• Minimum of 6 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in optical fabrication techniques, such as CNC grinding, CNC polishing, conventional polishing, CNC centering/truncating/coring, MRF and interferometry.
• Supervisory experience is desired, but not required.

The range for this position is $125,734.00 - $172,884.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
