Visitor Services Associate

In coordination with the supervisor, the Visitor Services Associate will:

• Maintain gallery and reception desk operations following museum and university policy.
• Greet visitors, provide information, and answer questions; answer a multi-line telephone; log activities, distribute and track keys and access cards; maintain daily Museum parking, maintenance, and vehicle logs; and perform administrative tasks such as sorting and distributing mail.
• Monitor the surroundings, lobby, and artwork.
• With the building supervisor, ensure security/safety of deliveries and building entry of maintenance workers and assist with opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Be responsible for assisting with projects for Museum development department and working with on/off campus clients with planning and executing events/classes/groups and assist with 25 Live upkeep and scheduling entries.
• Provide general responses independently and refer questionable situations to the supervisor.
• With supervisor and other security and visitor services staff, assist with the onboarding, training, and mentoring of approximately 35 new student employees each year.

These responsibilities require the ability to alternate between sitting and standing for extended periods, use staircases repeatedly, and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while engaging in intellectually demanding work.

The Visitor Services Associate role is a full-time (39 hours/week), one-year term position with the possibility of renewal. This position follows a work schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends, and may involve split days off. Shifts vary between the hours of 7:00AM and 8:00PM, as Johnson Museum of Art is a 7-day per week operation.

• High School diploma and up to 2 years of some related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, reliable, encouraging, and team minded.
• Strong customer service and relational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.

• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience with 25Live web-based scheduling and calendar system
• Experience with audio visual equipment.
• High level of initiative.
• Background in security, event planning, and mentoring helpful.
