Sr. Desktop And Application Virtualization Engineer
Core4ce is seeking a Senior Desktop and Application Virtualization (DAV) engineer capable of deploying, managing, and optimizing desktop and application virtualization solutions, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) hybrid cloud modernization strategy. This role will assist in managing Citrix-based services, troubleshooting outages, integrating thin clients, and providing subject matter expertise on modern desktop virtualization approaches across both on-premises and cloud-hosted platforms.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops services, including:
- Provisioning
- Workspace Environment Manager (WEM)
- Delivery Controller (DDC)
- Storefront
- Federated Authentication
- Director
- Licensing
- Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions to extend Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) capabilities into the cloud.
- Provide user profile personalization and session management to enhance end-user experience.
- Troubleshoot Application Virtualization Hosting Environment (AVHE) and AVD outages, session disruptions, and hosted application issues.
- Assist with the deployment, distribution, and support of IGEL thin clients configured for AVHE and cloud-hosted environments.
- Collaborate with platform, network, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, reliable desktop and application delivery.
- Support DHA's migration planning and adoption of hybrid cloud desktop virtualization solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- 5+ years of professional experience in desktop and application virtualization engineering.
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) design, deployment, and administration.
- Experience managing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in an enterprise environment.
- Strong background in Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, and PowerShell scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one relevant industry certification such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (or equivalent certification), Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization (CCP-V), or similar certification.
- Experience with thin client technologies, particularly IGEL.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare IT environments, Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, and secure remote access solutions.
