Variable Speed Drive Engineer

Utilize knowledge of variable speed drive to lead the design and application of new variable speed drives as well as support the evolution of existing variable speed drive products for HVACR applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the electronics hardware and software design development of a wide range of variable speed drives
  • Assist in developing product specifications, architecture, designs, schedules, and cost references to marketing and product management
  • Support design cycles and test cycles to obtain product and agency approval
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and validating test procedures, and execute the tests
  • Responsible for performance and qualification testing of the variable speed drives.
  • Provide support to customers, and serve as a technical liaison wherever necessary including providing expertise for new applications and providing solutions to field issues
  • Coordinate and review production line test specifications
  • Assist and coordinate engineering resources to meet project schedule & objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in Electronic Controls
  • General technical knowledge of electronics hardware and software design including microcontrollers, digital and analog circuits on several platforms
  • Some experience in PCB board layout design & electronics assembly manufacturing
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization
  • Strong project management competencies and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with global team simultaneously
  • Travel 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of technical experience for an industrial company with emphasis on leading variable speed electronics design and development projects.
  • General knowledge in working with safety agencies such as UL/VDE is a plus
  • Experience in EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
  • Experience in providing customer support and dealing with challenging customer issues
  • General knowledge of 3-phase motors and experience in motor control
  • Experience in switching mode power supply topologies
