General Summary:

The System Engineer is a key member of the Continuing Life IT team responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of enterprise IT systems across both local and remote locations. This position focuses on infrastructure systems including Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Intune (Endpoint) mobile device management, virtualization platforms, Active Directory, and cloud environments. The System Engineer plays a strategic role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of IT systems organization-wide.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage systems across multiple platforms:
    • Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Azure
    • VMware and/or HCI environments
  • Lead administration and lifecycle management of Intune MDM.
  • Create, document, and refine processes for secure and efficient device deployment and management.
  • Develop and maintain system patching strategies for all endpoints and servers.
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain on-prem and cloud-based servers for high availability and scalability.
  • Ensure integrity and reliability of backup systems; resolve backup failures promptly.
  • Perform and automate routine system maintenance and monitoring activities.
  • Architect and manage SharePoint Online structure, permissions, and integrations.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and serve as an escalation point for support teams.
  • Manage and support Active Directory and Azure AD environments, including:
    • Identity management
    • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
    • Group Policy and conditional access
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT infrastructure design and integration.
  • Serve as a technical advisor in project planning and implementation.
  • Support IT security team in initiatives and on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to support technicians and junior administrators.
  • Interface with 3rd party vendors and support partners when necessary.
  • Deliver system documentation and end-user training materials.
  • Participate in after-hours support rotations and critical incident response as needed.
  • Other related duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Windows OS, and iOS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Intune MDM deployment and administration
  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure in a System Engineer or similar role
  • Deep understanding of networking principles and server infrastructure
  • Proven experience with automation and scripting, especially with PowerShell
  • Strong experience in cloud services and identity management (Azure AD, RBAC, Conditional Access)
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with teams across departments
