As a Staff Software Engineer on the Basketview team, you'll build high-performance systems and data services that underpin core analytics and client-facing tools. You'll design distributed pipelines, mentor teammates, and work closely with Product, Data Science, and Infrastructure groups to evolve our backend platform.

Your main responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend services processing high-volume consumer data.
• Architect systems to support real-time analytics and reporting pipelines.
• Build and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs for data access and modeling.
• Ensure reliability, observability, and maintainability across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with data engineers and product teams to align business and technical needs.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural direction.
• Uphold security and compliance standards in data handling.
• Familiarity with NLP pipelines (embeddings, text processing) is a plus.

We're looking for someone with

• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong background in Python, Go, or Scala, with experience in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS) and IaC (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Experience with CI/CD and containerized deployments.
• Ability to collaborate across time zones and technical disciplines.

Basketview's platform combines backend services in Python and Go with Terraform, Pulumi, and Kubernetes. You'll work cross-functionally with the Location and AI Products teams to build data services supporting analytics and model integration.

We are a remote-first company with a distributed environment and flexible working arrangements. We believe that distributed workers should be first-class citizens. We also have an office in New York if offices are your thing.

The annual base salary for this role is between $225,000 – $275,000 based on experience, with the opportunity for a performance-based bonus, company equity, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, flexible and generous time off, work-from-home flexibility, and subsidized health benefits.
