Role Summary

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Location team, you'll design and build systems that capture, process, and analyze location-based data at scale. You'll collaborate with data scientists and product managers to deliver high-performance APIs and data pipelines for internal and client applications.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services and data pipelines for geospatial data processing.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to productionize ML models.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
• Ensure system scalability and performance across large datasets.
• Partner with DevOps to automate deployments and infrastructure management.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-team technical initiatives.

We're Looking For Someone With

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Go and distributed systems architecture.
• Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
• Strong understanding of data pipelines and API design.
• Familiarity with AI and data processing workflows.
• Excellent collaboration and technical leadership skills.

Tech Stack & Team Context

The Location engineering team develops Python and Scala services deployed on GCP, leveraging BigQuery, Dataflow, and Vertex AI. The team works closely with Basketview and AI Products to unify location and behavioral data for advanced analytics.

Salary

The annual base salary for this role is between $180,000 – $275,000 based on experience, with the opportunity for a performance-based bonus, company equity, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, flexible and generous time off, work-from-home flexibility, and subsidized health benefits.
