Job Summary

Our Commercial Team in London supports the management of ConocoPhillips' worldwide commodity marketing and trading needs. The 50-person team works with our corporate commercial leadership team around the globe on the development of optimal trading and risk management processes for expanded Crude, NGL, gas and LNG activities. In addition, the team works closely with our colleagues in our producing business units.

Position Overview

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will be the dedicated HR representative for the London City office, reporting directly to the Corporate HR Manager for the Commercial business located in Houston, Texas. This role involves offering strategic leadership and consultative HR support to the local Commercial Leadership Team, while also working in tandem with a network of global HR Business Partners to deliver on talent-related strategies for the Commercial business.

To drive the strategic growth of the Commercial business, the ideal candidate should bring deep expertise in HR business partnering, as well as substantial experience in organizational effectiveness, talent acquisition, compensation, senior stakeholder management, and employee engagement. Driving thoughtful and pragmatic change by encouraging innovative thinking and continuous improvement in both routine and complex HRBP functions.

The successful candidate should possess a CIPD qualification and a degree in HR, Business, or a related discipline, along with demonstrable experience as an HR Business Partner or in a comparable HR capacity.

Primary Role Objectives

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Leadership Team and Commercial HR team to define, map, and implement the HR strategy across the Commercial organization.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, influencing people strategies and leadership effectiveness with strong Commercial acumen and an understanding of industry and market dynamics.
  • Manage and deliver all HR activities for employees and leaders in the London office, including workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, talent attraction, onboarding facilitation, compensation and benefits, performance management, sickness absence, and occupational health coordination.
  • Analyze HR data as well as key financial and quantitative metrics to support decision-making and assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Contribute to local Commercial employee engagement, as well as cultural and organizational change management efforts.
  • Take ownership of actions and follow through on commitments by courageously dealing with important problems, holding others accountable and standing up for what is right.
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law by providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, promoting best practices, consistency, and adherence to regulations.

Competency Requirements

  • Degree in HR, Business, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resource functions, with relevant experience as an HR Business Partner or in an equivalent role.
  • Experience advising, coaching, and supporting key stakeholders in a complex, matrixed global organization.
  • Proven ability to manage complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience generating effective solutions based on available information and making timely decisions that are safe and ethical.
  • Willingness to travel internationally 10-20% annually.
