Job summary: The medical assistant provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of adult patient care under the direction of provider and nurses. Key areas of responsibility include direct patient care; vitals, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, virtual health; indirect patient care; scheduling, check in/out, referrals, scanning, chart prep, prior authorizations, transportation facilitation, work queues/worklists; point of care testing; ekg, hemoglobin a1c, urinalysis, hemoglobin poct, urine toxicity, inr, hcg.

Diploma from an accredited medical assistant program or an active CT cna, emt, paramedic certification. In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered. Relevant experience or ma externship in a busy medical office, epic emr experience preferred. Certified bls to be obtained through employment provided rqi training. To be completed 3 months (90) days of hire or job transfer. All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment. Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English. Bi-lingual language skills preferred. Flexibility to respond to changes in work schedules as necessary or as requested.
