Salesforce Data Steward

The Salesforce Data Steward plays a key role in safeguarding the integrity, quality, and usability of data. This individual ensures data accuracy, drives governance practices, and supports the entire data lifecycle—from acquisition and integration to reporting and compliance. This role collaborates with business, IT, and platform teams to promote trusted data that powers strategic decisions and client service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage data quality across systems—ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Perform processes for data validation, profiling, and remediation across enterprise systems, including Salesforce.
  • Maintain a data dictionary aligned with business and technical terminology, ensuring clarity and consistency in usage.
  • Support onboarding and integration of data from acquired entities, ensuring proper alignment to internal standards and data models.
  • Track and report on data quality trends, providing actionable insights and recommendations to improve performance.

Data Governance & Standards

  • Help establish and enforce data governance policies, including stewardship roles, data classification, and usage guidelines.
  • Collaborate with business owners and IT to define authoritative data sources and stewardship responsibilities.
  • Support compliance with internal controls and external regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR) related to data privacy and lifecycle management.
  • Participate in initiatives to standardize and enhance metadata management and master data strategies.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with CRM and analytics teams to ensure data used for reporting, segmentation, and automation meets established quality standards.
  • Assist with training and user support related to Salesforce data entry best practices, reporting accuracy, and data compliance.
  • Escalate critical data quality issues and collaborate with stakeholders to implement resolution plans.
  • Ensure availability of reliable data and reports, with appropriate data access controls and security measures.

Skills

  • Proven experience in managing data quality within Salesforce.
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry or a regulated environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of data integration, data modeling, and test data management tools.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, governance principles, and business data processes.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Salesforce reports and dashboards and/or SOQL/SQL queries.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to broader team initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in data governance, stewardship, or data quality role. (Minimum 3 years of Salesforce experience)
  • Certified in Salesforce Administrator (Desirable but not mandatory), Experience in ticketing systems E.G. Salesforce, Servicenow, Zendesk, or Jira)
  • Advanced English
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and customer service orientation
  • Proficient with Windows and basic troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change
