Data Engineer

We are looking for a Data Engineer to play a key role in the creation of datasets for business consumption. This role involves reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs, documenting requirements, and creating Power BI dashboards. The engineer will partner with development and data management roles to identify and capture data required from internal and external sources. The role requires strong interpersonal and teamwork skills and is responsible for providing data to drive product decisions and opportunities. This position will be a part-time contract and onsite in Miramar, Florida.
Due to the specific legal and contractual requirements associated with this position, this role will be direct employment with CAI. This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.
What You'll Do
- Analyze data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can improve loyalty programs operations
- Develop and maintain dynamic reports and dashboards using Power BI to provide real-time insights to stakeholders
- Identify and define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Design and build interactive dashboards that provide clear and actionable insights for various stakeholders
- Ensure dashboards are user-friendly, visually appealing, and effectively communicate key metrics and trends
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple databases
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy by performing regular data validation and quality checks
- Develop SQL queries with the requirement that all queries must be reviewed and approved by a DBA prior to release
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other internal teams to understand data needs and requirements
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on data insights, performance metrics, and progress on data-related projects
What You'll Need
Required:
- Experience with JIRA, Excel, and SQL
- Experience with BI Tools, such as Power BI or Tableau
- Familiar with relational database concepts and client-server concepts
- Demonstrates ability to coordinate the analysis and problem-solving of data issues with many individuals which results in consensus on solutions
Preferred:
- Your writing and speaking skills are clear, articulate, and effective, demonstrating your ability to interact with and be understood by all levels and various teams across the organization
- You are a creative thinker, with a solid understanding of agile practices, patterns, and techniques and other software development methodologies
- You have a keen eye for detail and pride yourself on delivering quality work. You multitask well, re-prioritize accordingly, and meet deadlines consistently. Above all, you are flexible and able to juggle the needs of changing priorities of the business, including managing multiple projects at once

Physical Demands
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
The pay range for this position is $15.00-$18.00 per hour (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will include medical coverage as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
