Food Service Worker

We are looking for a Food Service Worker to join our team at Winthrop University Markley's. This position is available for both full-time and part-time work. The location is 701 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730. Please note that online applications are accepted only.

The schedule for this position is flexible, with days and hours varying. More details will be provided upon interview. Prior food service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. The pay rate for this position is $14.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Summary: Performs cashiering duties, including general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Performing prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables. Weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
  • Carrying pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards. Distributing supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Storing foods in designated areas in accordance with wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Cleaning work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Using approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
  • Serving customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
  • Interacting with customers and resolving customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Relaying relevant information to the supervisor.
  • Performing sales transactions.
  • Entering sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded.
  • Making change, accepting declining balance cards, and other acceptable forms of payment.
  • Issuing receipts to customers.
  • Following standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
  • Being responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring that the cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards.
  • Replenishing condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
