Our two co-founders John and Lucas met over a team lunch and while chowing down on their cafeteria sandwiches they bonded over their unapologetically nerdy love for education technology. After months of white-boarding and long days spent writing thousands of lines of code, Compass 1.0 came to life in 2009 in Lucas' parents' garage.

Fast forward a decade - it's no longer just John and Lucas eating sandwiches at the lunch table. Our school management ecosystem is now used in more than 5,000 schools across Australia and beyond. We're joined by over 300+ members of the Compass team, delivering smart school management solutions around the world.

As a Solutions Engineer at Compass, you'll work closely with schools to design and demonstrate solutions that meet their unique needs. From tailored product demos to technical solution design, you'll play a key role in helping schools understand and adopt the full potential of our platform.

What you'll be doing:

-Pre-Sales Engagement

• Collaborate with Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) & Schools Engagement Managers to understand prospect needs and define solution strategy.
• Deliver tailored product demonstrations, technical deep dives, and proof-of-concept sessions to key stakeholders (e.g., school leadership, IT, administration).
• Provide consultative input on product configuration, implementation feasibility, and alignment to school-specific workflows.
• Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and security assessments with accuracy and confidence.

-Solution Design & Enablement

• Translate customer requirements into viable, scalable configurations of the Compass platform.
• Collaborate with Product and Implementation teams to ensure solution feasibility and accurate scoping.
• Build and maintain technical collateral (integration guides, demo environments, solution architecture diagrams) to support the sales cycle.

-Sales Team Enablement

• Train and coach Sales colleagues on Compass platform capabilities, integration patterns, and value propositions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of sales playbooks, discovery frameworks, and objection-handling strategies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Compass modules and underlying architecture.

-Customer Advocacy & Feedback

• Capture insights from the field to influence product roadmap and customer experience improvements.
• Act as the voice of the customer internally, identifying opportunities for innovation or new product use cases.
• Ensure a smooth knowledge handover from Sales to Customer Success teams.
