As a DSP Floater at Community Options, Inc. (COI), you'll bring flexibility and heart to every shift-supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in living richer, more meaningful, and more independent lives.

Your workplace will be as dynamic as your role-ranging from COI facilities to supported employment sites to active engagement in the community. Everything we do is grounded in Person Centered Planning (PCP), and you'll be part of both the planning and the action that transforms lives.

Qualifications – What You Bring to the Table

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and driving record acceptable to COI's insurance carrier
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Ability to pass Medication Administration and First Aid/CPR training within 90 days of hire
  • Prior related experience (preferred)

What You'll Do – Key Responsibilities

You'll step into different assignments based on agency needs, serving in a variety of settings. Your support can range from a friendly reminder to full assistance, depending on each person’s abilities.

Service & Support

  • Follow each individual's Service Plan and adapt as needed throughout the year.
  • Assist with community integration, habilitation, supported employment, residential care, mentorship, and transportation.
  • Teach and support social interaction skills-communication, leisure activities, self-care, and more.
  • Provide hands-on help with daily living skills: dressing, bathing, cooking, cleaning, and menu planning.
  • Administer medications according to State of Colorado guidelines.
  • Monitor health and behavior changes, reporting them per protocol.
  • Drive agency vehicles to take individuals to appointments, work, and community events.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.

Documentation & Communication

  • Communicate with respect and professionalism in tone, language, and body language.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation for skill training, progress notes, personal care, medication logs, timesheets, and incident reports.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Be on time, attend mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and manager check-ins.
  • Work independently but know when to seek help.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and professional conduct standards.
  • Take on other duties as needed-because teamwork makes the dream work!

Physical & Environmental Expectations

This is an active role requiring time on your feet, hands-on support, and occasionally performing personal care tasks. You'll work with individuals who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative-and you'll meet each situation with patience and professionalism.

  • Safely lift/move up to 50 lbs alone or 100 lbs with assistance
  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and occasional sitting
  • Strong vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills required
  • May be exposed to chemicals or infectious diseases (training provided on Universal Precautions)

Why This Role Matters: Every shift you work is a chance to help someone take a step toward independence, build confidence, and feel connected to their community. If you're looking for purpose, variety, and the chance to leave each day knowing you made a difference-this is the role for you.
