Senior Software Engineer

We are a digital protection tool created by x15ventures, CommBank's corporate venture scaler. Our mission is to empower every Australian to be in control of their identity and reduce the financial, emotional and social impacts of fraud.

When an identity check occurs in your name, we will alert you a majority of the time. Our current coverage extends to over 60% of all ID checks conducted at merchants across Australia. In the event of identity misuse, we provide helpful links, and remediation prompts to understand how you may re-secure your information as efficiently as possible and avoid additional harm or loss.

We will also alert you if your email addresses have been exposed in a data breach and provide proactive guidance to enhance your online security. x15ventures is wholly owned by CommBank so your identity and personal details are in good hands. All data is encrypted and stored safely in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Where do you fit?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join Truyu, an early-stage venture within x15ventures. This role will be critical in creating a best-in-class application for our customers as we continue to evolve and scale this product. You will leverage your breadth of experience across the full stack of technologies in building a scalable digital protection product that our customers love.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain a mobile application using react-native and a server side built with Typescript on Node.js
• Partner with product team to ship high-quality features that solve real user problems
• Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture discussions
• Contribute to and uphold engineering best practices around code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability
• Lead by example in identifying and resolving technical debt, improving performance, and increasing system reliability
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers
• Co-own the product with a technology lens

We are interested to hear from people who have experience in:

• Being willing and able to contribute across all areas of the tech stack, while specializing and able to go deep in at least one of those areas
• 5+ years of programming and software development experience. Experience and comfort in react-native, Typescript, and Node
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL)
• Comfortable working in cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and using tools like Docker, GitHub Actions, or similar for CI/CD
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership beyond functional requirements—ensuring the right outcomes for the customer are achieved
