We're interested in hearing from people who:
- Have solid hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining mainframe applications using PL/01, COBOL and JCL
- Are confident analysing user requirements and translating them into technical specifications
- Perform coding, testing, debugging, and optimisation of mainframe programs
- Are constantly collaborating with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and project managers to ensure successful delivery
- Are knowledgeable providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
- Participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities
- Maintaining technical documentation for software design, programming, and testing
- Ensuring integration with existing systems and support disaster recovery planning
- Implementing security best practices for mainframe systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in Agile environments
- Exposure to financial services or regulated industries is advantageous
Tech Skills
- Demonstrable experience in mainframe development
- Proficiency in COBOL, PL/1 and JCL
- Proficiency in Java programming language
- Strong understanding of SDLC, system architecture, and performance optimisation
- Experience with DB2, CICS, and debugging tools like AbendAid or FileAid is a plus
- Experience with legacy system modernisation and integration with cloud-native platforms
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Git
- Knowledge of data governance and secure processing standards
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, Splunk, AWS CloudWatch
- Event-driven architecture leveraging Kafka, Kinesis, SNS/SQS, or Eventbridge
- Expertise in Security Engineering principles and implementation
- Cloud-native development, preferably with AWS
