Senior Platform Engineer

You will be part of a team building the next generation of the bank's customer data platform. As a Platform Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building, and operating the tools, infrastructure, and platforms that enable our engineers to deliver software reliably, securely, and efficiently.

You will collaborate closely with product and platform teams to deliver scalable, observable, and secure infrastructure, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.

Your impact and contribution:

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in our initiative to migrate Data Platform from ECS to EKS. This is a large-scale and critical platform at CommBank, and you will be at the heart of our artifact management modernisation initiative. Your role will be vital in maintaining the operational integrity of existing systems and ensuring a smooth transition whilst contributing to key design and architectural decisions. Your expertise in cloud services, architecture, networking and automation will be essential in driving our mission forward.

Key responsibilities:

• Designing, building and managing Kubernetes-based platform components on AWS.
• Designing and improving CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.
• Implementing best practices in observability, security, platform reliability and cost optimisation.
• Collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to streamline delivery.
• Implement automations to enhance platform efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve customer experience and operational processes.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise.
• Participate in DevSecOps practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of our platform engineering processes.
• Provide support and participate in an on-call rotation to ensure system reliability.

Your skills and experience:

• Proven experience in large-scale migration initiatives.
• Strong understanding of cloud services, architecture, and networking.
• Proficiency in DevOps, platform engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Experience in highly regulated enterprises with a focus on security and controls compliance.
• Familiarity with tools and technologies such as AWS EKS, ECS, GitHub Actions, Terraform and Python.
• A passion for solving complex problems and driving engineering excellence.
