Join our Financial Crime Operations (FCO) Strategy & Performance team and be a part of our mission to eradicate financial crime. We are looking for a dedicated Manager Business Process Improvement to support Financial Crime Services in achieving our vision: "To relentlessly pursue the elimination of financial crime."

Financial Crime Operations (FCO) is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Group's financial crime operations shared service. FCO leads the Group's approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of AML/CTF, KYC, Sanctions, ECDD and other operational services.

The Role:

You will be part of the FCO Strategic Initiatives & Governance function, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the performance of FCO operational teams via strategic projects, workforce planning, capability, change, quality control as well as uplift across policy, process and risk.

As a Manager Business Process Improvement, you will support FCO by managing the delivery of multiple initiatives to enable productivity and quality uplift and ongoing compliance to the ever-changing nature of financial crime policy. Your efforts will directly contribute to enabling our operational teams to provide world-class prevention and detection of financial crime and safeguard the Group and wider community through our expertise, insights, and quality.

This role has no direct reports.

Please note: This is a Parental Leave cover opportunity for either a Max Term or Secondment (for our internal team members) for 15-16 months in length, which is a great way to begin or enhance your experience within CBA!

On any given day you will:

  • Translate financial crime policies and standards into operational processes and business requirements.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of initiatives/project streams from gap analysis to implementation and embedment, using Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or other relevant framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and internal standards.
  • Lead delivery of inflight initiatives/ project streams within the PEPs process landscape from gap analysis to implementation and embedment.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, risks and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain effective relationships across FCS, FCC and other BUs to enable high engagement, buy in and support for opportunities and process enhancements.
  • Be open to change, constructively challenge where required and deliver process changes using effective communication and the recognised change management methodologies.
  • Support training, documentation, and quality assurance to ensure consistent understanding and application of financial crime requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on AML/CTF, sanctions, and operational risk, contributing to the design of sustainable, compliant processes.
  • Facilitate workshops and use data-driven insights to influence decision-making and gain buy-in for change initiatives.
  • Rigorously challenge process, people, and technology designs to identify and prioritise opportunities to increase capacity, decrease risks, eliminate errors & rework, and improve end-to-end customer and colleague experience.
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Group policies and external regulatory requirements.

We're interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have demonstrated experience within Financial Crime, regulatory or law enforcement operations.
  • Exposure to Financial Crime, Politically Exposed Persons operations process.
  • A self-starter who is pragmatic, adaptable, curious and eager to learn about new processes and policies.
  • Confidence to question, to truly understand and to offer constructive challenge to find better ways to do things.
  • Are confident communicators who influence and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and influence decision-making at all levels of the business.
  • Take initiative, simplify complexity, and deliver practical outcomes.
  • Think critically and solve problems with a strong risk and quality mindset.
  • Have a proven track record of leading projects, improving processes, and driving change. Continuous improvement qualifications e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, and experience of working within of Project Management and Change Management frameworks would be highly regarded.
