Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is a technical expert responsible for architecting, securing, and optimizing the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. Building on the Network Engineer role, this position focuses on advanced routing/switching, security engineering, firewall architecture, performance design, and cross-site connectivity. The Senior Network Engineer provides strategic direction, leads major network initiatives, and mentors junior team members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Network Architecture & Strategic Design
• Develop long-term network roadmaps aligned with business growth, security needs, and technology modernization.
• Architect highly available, redundant, and scalable network infrastructures for on-prem and cloud environments.
• Advanced Security & Traffic Engineering
• Design and maintain advanced firewall architectures (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD, Fortinet, etc.) including segmentation, application-layer controls, and zero-trust enforcement.
• Engineer IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC, and network threat detection solutions.
• Conduct deep traffic analysis, threat modeling, and packet-level diagnostics.
• Performance Engineering & Troubleshooting
• Monitor and optimize network performance, bandwidth utilization, and multi-site connectivity.
• Solve high-impact, complex network issues as the top-tier escalation point.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement durable corrective actions.
• Lead network upgrades, hardware refreshes, SD-WAN transitions, and architecture redesigns.
• Manage relationships with telecom carriers, optimizing WAN circuits and failover strategies.
• Architect wireless deployments for high-density environments and secure access.
• Leadership, Governance & Documentation
• Mentor Network Engineers and Systems Administrators developing network skills.
• Create network standards, policies, diagrams, and architecture documentation.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance and align with security frameworks.

• Deep expertise in TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, VLANs, QoS, ACLs, and network segmentation.
• Strong security architecture knowledge including firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, and zero-trust principles.

Skills: Network engineering, Firewall, Router, Cisco routers, Palo Alto, Cisco switches.

Additional Skills & Qualifications: Someone that has at least 5 years of real experience. Meaning they can do more then change VLANs and update a device. As far as certifications, PCNSA and for Cisco CCNA or higher.

Job Type & Location: This is a permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $100,000.00 - $140,000.00/yr. PTO policy for executives is an unlimited PTO policy. Dental PPO Plan - United Healthcare (UHC) As of January 1, 2025, the dental plan will continue to be insured by UHC. The dental plan uses the PPO 20 Network.
