As our Engineering Intern at The Ohio State University, you will be responsible for supporting ENGIE's Central Capex and Major Partnerships Team, concentrated on various technical engineering measures for The Ohio State University's District Energy System (DES) as well as other DES's for which the Team is responsible. The ideal candidate has an interest in obtaining practical experience within energy infrastructure. The internship work term will be January 5, 2026 - May 29, 2026, part-time 10-15 hours per week minimum. Additional hours/weeks may be available based on business needs and will be discussed in advance with supervisor.

You will:

  • Assist the Central Capex and Major Partnerships Engineering Team as assigned
  • Consolidate process data of the District Energy System to support decisions about infrastructure investments, equipment upgrades and to support expansion planning
  • Collaborate on other work assignments including feasibility assessments, optimization and energy savings analyses, equipment accounting and organization, design plan reviews, and attending design meetings
  • Cover resiliency assessments, capacity roadmaps, hydronic delta-T analyses, decarbonization studies, procurement and sourcing of utilities, and implementation and engineering acumen to support similar areas

You will report to the Engineering Advisor.

What You'll Bring:

Minimum of 2 years of completed course work at The Ohio State University within Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree program required; Graduate or PhD level students also accepted. Focus on energy, sustainability, or mechanical engineering for current research and/or previously obtained degree (undergraduate / graduate) majors.

Additional Details:

This role requires attendance at a work site on a daily basis. Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies. This position consists of 10% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions. Ability to meet highest attendance requirements. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis. Organizational, prioritization and time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel - specifically Excel for energy accounting, modeling, and forecasting. Knowledge of energy modeling software. Proficient with reviewing technical engineering drawings, plans, and specifications. Proficient with engineering economics and cost estimating. Knowledge of district energy systems and associated major equipment and components, interplay and relationship between energy streams.

Compensation Hourly Range: $24.00 to $25.50 USD hourly. This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
