Job Summary/Overview
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design and development of digital and analog circuits and electrical systems for new and existing products, in collaboration with New Product Development teams. This includes supplying technical expertise in the product planning process and develop methods to solve practical engineering problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create design specifications, schematics, BOM's, qualification test plans, and production test plans.
- Design and develop electronic circuits for industrial control systems, working with product management and engineering to meet product specifications and engineering standards.
- Select electronic components for designs, ensuring quality and reliability; coordinate with purchasing to specify appropriate and cost-effective components.
- (Optional) Design and develop embedded firmware for products, together with other developers on the team.
- Supply technical expertise and direction to the engineering team and related disciplines.
- Conduct research to solve practical engineering problems and improve/develop methods and processes in development engineering.
- Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
- Adapt to meet critical deadlines, incorporating solid time-management skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Ability to design, implement, and test electronic circuits for industrial applications.
- Proficiency with test and debug tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Experience with architecture design for products based on electronics and firmware (preferred).
- Independent problem-solving and analysis skills.
- Adept at teamwork, demonstrated by effective working relationships and the ability and willingness to cooperate and collaborate with others to achieve positive results.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines, incorporating solid time-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 1 - 3 years of experience with electronics design for new product development, including complete NPD project cycles.
- Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally, typically less than 10%.
- Experience with ARM processors and RTOS environments preferred.
- Experience with RF communications hardware and software preferred; for example, BLE or Wi-Fi.
- Prior experience with industrial wired networks is a plus.
