Prep Cook - Dining Services III

This position is open only to Colorado state residents. The position is located at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Fort Logan, which provides the highest quality mental health services to persons with complex, serious, and persistent mental illness within the resources available. The vision of CMHIFL is to support those individuals in achieving their recovery goals and reaching their full potential.

The role involves 10-hour variable shifts, including early shifts (5:30am-4:00pm) and late shifts (8:00am-6:30pm), as well as holidays and weekends. This position is also eligible for shift differential on weekends.

The Nutrition Services Department provides quality meals and medical nutrition therapy to patients in a mental health facility. Meals meet the nutritional, medical, spiritual, cultural, and mental health needs of the patient population and are prepared in a manner that meets established standards.

The primary duties of this position include:

  • Tray Line, Meal Service, and Food Cart Distribution: Portion hot and cold food items onto trays, monitor temperatures, load regular and modified meals into food carts for distribution, deliver food carts to teams, and serve meals to patients in the dining room.
  • Safety and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize the production area, dining room, diet office, bathroom, kitchen equipment, and utensils. Follow policies and procedures regarding knife handling, key monitoring, employee safety, etc.
  • Production Cooking: Prepare, portion, season, and cook all menu food items using a variety of cooking methods following standardized recipes, menus, tallies, etc.
  • Training: Maintain active computer access to complete Cornerstone training and check/review email. Attend annual training fair and complete mandatory hospital and departmental training.

Minimum qualifications include two years of relevant experience in cooking and preparation of food, or in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Full background check and reference check are required. This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
