Durango School District 9-R is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant at Durango High School to support the Counseling Office. This is a 10 month position, 7:45 am- 4:15 pm, full time, 8hrs day, 40 hrs wk. Includes benefits and begins August 18, 2025. Job Title: Administrative Assistant -- High School Pay Grade: ESP Salary Schedule Job Family: Administrative Support FLSA Status: Non-exempt Department: School Based Prepared Date: May 15, 2018 Typical Work Year: 10 months SUMMARY: Responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to the high school office. Duties include maintaining the student records database and student files; screening and directing phone calls and visitors; receiving and responding to inquiries and requests; maintaining student attendance; assisting in health clinic when Health Service Provider is unavailable; handling incoming and/or outgoing mail, warehouse orders, faxes, and email; preparing documents; purging student records from database; and maintaining office equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Experience is preferred but may not be necessary for hiring. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: Criminal background check required for hire. CPR and First Aid training preferred at hire; required one month after hire. Meds administration required one month after hire. TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES: Oral and written communication skills. English language skills; multilingual skills preferred. Interpersonal relations skills. Personal computer and keyboarding skills. Customer service and public relations skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities with frequent interruptions. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies and building/department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively in a team setting. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE: Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office, email/calendar systems, financial software, publishing software. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, email, etc.
