R&D Engineer

Together, we save lives. The R&D Engineer is responsible to assist in developing, managing, directing, and executing technical projects and products internal to NFT Inc. and to external customers while conforming to NQA-1 complete program requirements under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. Manage the full life cycle (from conception to delivery) of technical projects and products while conforming to the NQA-1 complete program. Supports production team in product testing and adjust existing product lines as needed.

Job Description - Essential Job Functions:

• Design and development of internal testing or laboratory equipment and contracted devices.
• Use of 3D modeling in SolidWorks as necessary to develop and validate designs.
• Fabrication of designs, with adaptation as needed to provide the project to the customer within their design constraints and expectations.
• Troubleshooting during the building and manufacturing of a design in order to establish a correction path and plan.
• Procurement of off-the-shelf or machined parts and assemblies in accordance with the appropriate quality level.
• Creating proposals for new products.
• Understanding customers' needs and requests.
• Fabrication of mechanical parts utilizing manual machining equipment, lathe and mill.
• Fabrication of electrical subsystems using purchased parts or fabrication as needed.
• Troubleshooting, fixing and creating code for internal or contacted devices.
• Production of engineering documents including drawings, material dedication plans, product specifications, work instructions, reports, and engineering test specifications.
• Test final product for compliance with key engineering design constraints and customer's requirements.
• Interfacing with customers throughout the life cycle to establish expectations and communicate key information establishing a trusting relationship.
• Analyzing new and existing designs through design reviews, engineering calculations, finite element analysis, and other required analysis methods.
• In-situ modification and troubleshooting after delivery of a project.
• Acceptance test planning and testing.
• Support of field services as needed.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Create and adhere to a budget and schedule for each project.
• Handle all engineering documentation for production per quality procedures, including document review holding CRT meetings & document reviews, procurement dedication paperwork & validation.

Essential Job Requirements:

• Experience within mechanical design and fabrication processes.
• Knowledge in research and development and the ability to quickly find functional solutions.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of ASME NQA-1 requirements as they apply to NFT products and design control.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service.
• Knowledge of project management principals involved in coordinating and directing projects.

Qualifications & Education Requirement:

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Desired) to BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Desired).
• 3 years' experience in Engineering Design Preferred.
• Knowledge of CAD systems, SolidWorks and AutoCAD (or similar design program).
• Experience with mechanical design, electrical design and troubleshooting, and coding.
• Microsoft Office and Project experience.
