Description of Job

Primary responsibilities constituent services analysts assist members of the general assembly by addressing constituent concerns related to state government, legislation, and colorado laws. Analysts work with state agencies to resolve issues related to state programs and services, research constituent questions about legislation and state laws, and provide written and verbal responses to constituents. Analysts do not provide legal advice. The position involves significant interaction with the public. This position requires the ability to work in a nonpartisan manner in a partisan environment, and to provide objective information regardless of the issue or personal opinions.

Other responsibilities constituent services analysts may work with research staff to create public facing informational documents related to state programs or legislation of interest to the public. Constituent services analysts may also assist with other special projects.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities a successful candidate will:

  • be inquisitive;
  • have customer service experience dealing with complex issues and personalities;
  • write clearly and concisely about complicated topics;
  • have the ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information;
  • have strong research and policy analysis skills;
  • work effectively across a range of policy areas of interest to members of the public;
  • work in a nonpartisan manner in a partisan environment, and provide objective information regardless of the issue or personal opinions;
  • have excellent writing, communication, and proofreading skills;
  • use technology effectively and learn new skills as necessary; and
  • manage their time and workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.

constituent services analysts address issues in a wide variety of subject areas, therefore, familiarity with state government agencies is preferred.

education and experience requirements the minimum educational requirement is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Work Environment and Remote Work

legislative council staff offers a flexible work environment that is designed to meet the needs of the legislature and allow staff to work remotely most of the year. During the four-month legislative session (january to may), this position is required to be primarily in-person at the state capitol. During the eight-month legislative interim (may through december) we offer a hybrid work environment.

Salary and Benefits

the salary range for this position is $60,000 to $72,000 per year, with salary level within this range commensurate with education and experience. Legislative Council Staff employees are not members of the state personnel system.
