About the Work Unit: This work unit in Region 4 (Limon) administers transportation construction and design contracts and oversees the contractors and consultants performing the work. Design activities include developing construction plans, specifications, and preliminary estimates for advertising budgeted transportation projects along the unit's specified corridors. Design activities are performed by an in-house design team or administered through design consultant contracts. The designs must adhere to the guidelines, standards, and policies of the State of Colorado and the Federal Highway Administration while staying within the project scope and budget. Construction activities include materials testing, inspection for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, quality assurance and control, documentation of pay quantities, authorization of contract payments, initiation and authorization of contract modification orders, and monitoring of financial status.
About the Position: Under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer/Resident Engineer, this position performs construction management as the Project Engineer on low to medium risk construction projects or as an Assistant Project Engineer on projects of higher risk and complexity. In this role, the position holder serves as the Chief Engineer's representative and is responsible for full-time project management or specific aspects thereof, depending on the assigned role. Minimum Qualifications Experience Only: Six (6) years of relevant experience in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Materials Testing Management or an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
OR Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to six (6) years.
Education from an accredited college or university with coursework in Engineering, Project Management, Management, or another field of study related to the duties of this position will be considered.
Experience in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Materials Testing Management or an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
