Job Title: Research Service Professional (iPSC Editing Specialist)

Position #00839642 – Requisition # 37909

Job Summary:

We are urgently seeking a dynamic Research Scientist to lead a high-priority project focused on precision editing of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). This role is central to advancing our capabilities in disease modeling and therapeutic discovery in the field of Down Syndrome. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in genome editing (e.g., CRISPR), stem cell biology, and functional genomics, and will drive innovation in editing strategies and platform development.

This is a pivotal opportunity to shape a transformative research initiative with broad translational impact. Join us in pushing the boundaries of stem cell engineering.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • iPSC culture

  • CRISPR-mediated gene editing in iPSC lines

  • Perform RNA, DNA, and protein extraction and quality control, as well as other various molecular biology-related assays (qPCR, dPCR, western blot, amplicon sequencing, NGS library preparation, etc.)

  • Inventory, storage and management of biospecimens; associated record keeping

  • Manage edited iPSC inventory in collaboration with the Human Trisome Project biobank, Crnic Institute clinical trials, and associated investigations

  • Edited iPSC record keeping

  • Collaborate with researchers from other programs within the Crnic Institute (clinical, experimental models, data teams) to accomplish project goals and share research results

  • Assist senior staff in the design, execution and evaluation of research investigations, including literature reviews, performing experiments and pilots, data integration, and analysis

  • Foundational lab maintenance responsibilities

  • Assist with various laboratory and clinical support operations, such as autoclaving, inventories, ordering supplies, and hazardous materials management.

  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas

Work Location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Why Join Us:

Join a mission-driven team at the forefront of precision medicine and genetic research. The Functional Genomics Shared Resource (FGSR), a leading core facility specializing in gene function analysis, has partnered with the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome—the largest academic hub for Down syndrome research globally. Together, we are advancing transformative science that directly improves health outcomes for individuals with Down syndrome.

As part of our iPSC team, you'll contribute to cutting-edge work in gene editing and functional validation of iPSC lines, helping build a gene-corrected iPSC panel that will serve as a foundational resource for future discoveries. You'll gain hands-on experience with CRISPR-based heterozygous gene editing technology, and a wide array of functional assays—all while working in a collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment.

We're looking for detail-oriented, motivated, and enthusiastic Laboratory Science Professionals who are passionate about making a real-world impact through science. If you thrive in fast-paced research setting and want to be part of a team that values innovation, precision, and purpose—this is your opportunity to make a difference.
