Assistant Professor - HRH (1.0 FTE)

The Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology has a fulltime (1.0) FTE faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor at Highlands Ranch Hospital.

The position is responsible for the full spectrum of surgical oncology. This faculty member will participate in medical student, resident and fellow education as well as research and scholarly activity commensurate with qualifications. Close collaboration with the surgeons, APPs, hospital and clinical staff will be necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

  • All aspects of surgical oncology
  • Education of students, residents and fellows
  • Scholarly activities related to surgical oncology
  • Scope of work will include Highlands Ranch Hospital
  • Support growth and expansion of research and scholarly activity within the Division of surgical oncology and collaborating divisions
  • Supports and manages relationships across the entire system as it relates to surgical oncology
  • Provide care to patients in the outpatient Surgical Oncology clinics
  • Close collaboration with general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary
  • Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and multidisciplinary providers is essential
  • Surgeon may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services

Work location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite in Highlands Ranch, CO, with possible new sites in the future.

Minimum qualifications:

  • MD/DO
  • Board certified in General Surgery
  • Surgical Oncology (or equivalent) Fellowship
  • CO Medical license or license eligible
  • Experience in clinical program administration
  • Fulfill the requirements to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado
  • Experience in an academic environment with proven clinical, education and research accomplishments

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with multidisciplinary research
  • Positive track record of teambuilding; experience leading a multidisciplinary team and building a clinical program
  • Prior clinical and research experience in the evaluation and treatment of oncology patients

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills driving comprehensive, multi-site programs
  • Clinical expertise in the full spectrum of surgical oncology diseases
  • Surgical research program development
  • Successful background in research and scholarly activities

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE $300,000 - $355,000 plus potential incentive. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
