Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer – Safety‑Critical Systems
The Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer is responsible for independent verification and validation of safety‑related instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures system, software, and hardware designs meet defined requirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations in compliance with IEEE 1012 and NQA‑1–based QA programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform analysis, review, and testing of system development lifecycle deliverables.
- Review requirements specifications, including traceability and fulfillment analysis.
- Develop and execute V&V analyses in alignment with IEEE 1012.
- Create and execute test procedures at the element, module, and system levels.
- Conduct simulation‑based testing using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.
- Perform hardware and integrated system testing, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Collaborate closely with design and QA teams to ensure product compliance.
- Deliver project activities within schedule and budget constraints.
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of Verification & Validation experience.
- Hands‑on experience with system testing and hardware testing.
- 3+ years experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- Experience working within NQA‑1 or equivalent QA programs.
- Experience with safety‑related systems preferred; DOORS or Questa Sim a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: commensurate with experience
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on individual performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
