Lead the mechanical design for wearable device components features and systems while maintaining end-to-end product development understanding.
Contribute to mechanical solutions as part of highly cross-functional teams including Industrial Design, Manufacturing, and Science teams.
Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems for wearable devices.
Work across the full product development cycle from concept inception to shipping product.
Design and develop manufacturing tools, fixtures, and assembly jigs for EMG device production.
Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) guidance across multiple device generations.
Execute precise assembly and rework on EMG electronic devices including hands-on mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and soldering of components.
Develop and implement testing methodologies specific to wearable devices including signal quality assessment and contact integrity validation.
Collaborate with manufacturing partners on secondary process development for complex metal enclosures and components.
Support rapid prototyping initiatives using advanced additive manufacturing and conventional fabrication techniques.
Create detailed technical documentation to ensure accurate implementation and support of assembly and rework processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
5+ years of industry experience in mechanical design with focus on consumer electronics or wearable devices
Experience with NX CAD software including synchronous modeling, surfacing, assembly, and drafting capabilities
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning (GD&T), and 3D2D CAD
Working knowledge in material properties such as plastics, metals, adhesives, elastomers, and specialized polymers used in wearable applications
Testing and analysis experience including characterization systems, electrochemical testing, FEA simulation, and Design of Experiments
Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques including machining, finishing, fixture design, 3D printing, and injection molding
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and soldering of electronic components including rework and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years of product design and development experience of handheld and/or wearable high-volume consumer electronics with experience in EMG sensing devices or similar biomedical hardware
Advanced experience with NX CAD including sheet metal design, flexible printed circuit board modeling, and complex assembly management within Teamcenter environments
Experience with highly cosmetic products and working with Industrial Design teams on form-factor constrained wearable devices
Experience designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chains including supplier collaboration and manufacturing transfer documentation
Experience designing for human factors and ergonomics in wearable applications with understanding of skin-contact electrode systems and signal quality optimization
