Senior Quality Engineering Lead

About the role

As a Senior Quality Engineering Lead, you will make an impact by driving the development and execution of robust testing strategies that ensure software quality, reliability, and compliance. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering & Assurance team and work collaboratively with developers, Product owners, and Scrum Masters to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive test strategies across multiple platforms and technologies.
  • Oversee the implementation of automated testing frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, and Playwright.
  • Provide mentorship to junior quality engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate testing into Agile and SAFe development methodologies.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to streamline testing and deployment processes.

Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Riverwoods, IL. What you need to have to be considered:

  • Proven experience in leading quality engineering initiatives and test strategy development.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools including Selenium, Cucumber, and Playwright.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins and version control systems such as GitHub.
  • Proficiency in API testing using RestAssured and Postman.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and PL/SQL for data validation and integrity checks.
  • Experience with scripting languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

These will help you stand out:

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and SAFe Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Jira for test management and defect tracking.
  • Ability to analyze test results and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adoption of emerging testing tools and practices.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to $112,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
