Position Summary:
Cognizant Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional with a strong engineering background to solve complex cloud infrastructure challenges for our diverse client base. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure platform reliability, improve automation, and provide infrastructure solutions that support enterprise-grade services. This role is ideal for an individual with a firm foundation in infrastructure engineering, focusing on building scalable, secure, and observable platforms.
You will be working on exciting and interesting projects, providing Advisory and Consulting services covering a range of domains, including:
- Cloud infrastructure strategy and optimization
- Security architecture and risk management
- Cloud governance
- Platform engineering and SRE practices
- DevOps and CI/CD transformation
- Microservices and container orchestration
- IT Service Management integration
Mandatory Skills:
Delivering enterprise-grade architecture requires a vast amount of experience. We are seeking individuals with strong engineering backgrounds and practical knowledge, including but not limited to:
- Ability to provide detailed technical documentation, status updates, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to partner with development and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and implement best practices across the SDLC.
- Experience with application development.
- Proficient in developing internal applications, scripts, and automation solutions using Python, Bash, and other relevant methods.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining business-critical cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS, using Terraform, Terragrunt and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Experience managing and optimizing Kubernetes clusters and leveraging associated tooling (Helm, Kustomize, etc.).
- Experience developing and maintaining efficient CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing and managing event streaming platforms, associated tools and connectors (Confluent, MSK, and Apache Kafka).
- Experience with platform observability through Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana, and custom monitoring/alerting solutions.
- Experience with SLA, SLO, and SLI service reliability framework.
- Experience designing and supporting SIEM solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead assessment activities across a range of organizations and verticals to provide insight on status and pathways to improvements.
- Lead security assessments of the environment and application architecture to identify and articulate the security risk profile.
- Deliver cloud assessment reviews to enable clients to understand their alignment with best practice, with recommendations on improvements.
- Lead workshops and discussions to determine a solution that delivers the client's expected outcomes.
- Lead infrastructure modernization and cloud adoption initiatives across environments.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of platform components.
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters across environments.
- Operate and scale distributed systems such as Confluent Kafka, ensuring data reliability and performance for real-time services.
- Work across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Deliver training workshops and labs to our staff and clients.
- Provide Pre-Sales Support and solution architecture for tendered offerings.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for infrastructure, runbooks, architecture decisions, and SOPs.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and practices, evaluating their potential impact and adoption.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
- CKA - Certified Kubernetes Administrator
- Certified SCRUM Master
