Role: Senior Java Backend Engineer

Experience: Minimum 4 to 8 years of experience.

Job Location: Candidates need to be willing to work in an on-site model from the client's office in Sunnyvale – CA.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficient in core Java and J2EE technologies.
• Extensive experience with Java Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Skilled in designing and developing large-scale microservices for high-performance, scalable platforms.
• Deep understanding of NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB and MongoDB.
• Strong expertise in messaging systems, particularly Kafka.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Solid grasp of architectural design principles for building resilient and scalable systems.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver medium-to-large-scale engineering projects by translating requirements into scalable solutions, writing code, testing, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Work with small teams, including offshore members, by providing technical guidance, reviewing designs and code, and driving quality outcomes.
• Troubleshoot production issues through root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve technical queries and support business needs.
• Drive project discovery and design phases with cross-functional teams to define architecture and secure approvals.
• Apply technical expertise to improve development practices and mentor team members.
• Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to implement business solutions and adapt to changing priorities.
• Promote compliance with company policies and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.

Work Authorization: Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 – $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
